How did Valentines Day start?

Some legends say that Saint Valentine was a priest who lived in Roman times. The Roman Emperor Claudius II did not want young men to marry because he thought they would not be good soldiers if they had wives waiting for them back home. So this Saint Valentine helped these young men marry in secret before he was thrown in jail.

Valentine’s Day was later a day of pagan feasting. People then started sending each other handwritten love notes and Valentine’s day became popular...
